The beautiful Salzkammergut provides the backdrop for the television series A Castle on Lake Wörther See. Deep blue, crystal-clear lake landscapes are towered over by majestic peaks up to the almost 3000m high Dachstein.
For those ´who would like to save themselves the trouble of an ascent to the King of the Salzkammergut’s high Dachstein will gladly accept the cable car ride (http://www.derdachstein.at/de) through the breathtaking south wall. During the summer the people in the valleys create their own remedy for the heat by jumping into the cool wet waters. it is quite possible that on the glacier of the UNESCO world heritage the one or other incorrigible winter fan enjoys the day on the boards which means the world to them.

The gigantic structures of frozen water let nature appear as an unsurpassed artist in the right light at one time or another. With the Schafbergbahn on Lake Wolfgang, people completed a technical masterpiece back in 1893. Austria’s steepest rack railway, with up to 26%, overcomes the difference in altitude of 1190m on a 5850m stretch. High above the Salzach is one of the most beautiful fortifications in Austria. Hohenwerfen Castle (https://www.salzburg-burgen.at/de/burg-hohenwerfen) whose history goes back over 900 years. Impressive exhibitions, entertaining guided tours and last but not least the castle’s own falconry with daily flight shows which the Kings of the Air provide for an exceptional cultural experience.
